Teleperformance has today revealed that it will create 400 new jobs in its Newry and Bangor premises.

The news will be a welcome boost to the local area and comes just weeks after Newry Times exclusively revealed that up to 1,130 new jobs could be created at Greenbank.

Teleperformance, which represents major clients in the private and public sector, said it is recruiting at least 400 new staff to fill a numbers of roles.

Chief executive of Teleperformance UK Alistair Niederer said: “We are currently enjoying a high level of growth across the UK and are proud to be creating such a boost in Northern Ireland with these vacancies. We are looking for talented people that have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.”

The announcement was welcomed by Dr Gerard O’Hare, chairman of the Parker Green Group which owns the Quays Complex in Newry where the majority of the jobs will be created.

He said: “We are delighted Teleperformance are expanding their current operation at The Quays Complex in Newry, where over 2,500 people already work on a weekly basis. Delivering real jobs right now is a tremendous boost for the local economies and Teleperformance UK are to be congratulated for demonstrating an ongoing commitment to Northern Ireland at this time.”

Newry & Armagh DUP MLA William Irwin welcomed the news. He stated, “This is great news for the area and it comes at a time when employment opportunities are not plentiful. It is important that our Executive continues its work in terms of bringing jobs to Northern Ireland and ensures that investors continue to see Northern Ireland as a prime location for their operations.”
