Bradley welcomes Newry 400 jobs announcement
SDLP MLA for Newry and Armagh Dominic Bradley has welcomed the creation of 400 additional jobs by Newry based company Norbrook over a two year period.
Earlier today, Newry Times exclusively revealed that the Newry company which researches, develops and manufactures veterinary pharmaceuticals for the global market is planning a major recruitment drive set to employ 400 new staff over the next 2 years.
The jobs are part of an ongoing expansion programme by Norbrook Laboratories Ltd which has already seen 230 new staff join the company since January 2013.
The jobs will range across multiple disciplines including production, scientific analysis, research, finance and engineering.
Speaking to Newry Times, Bradley said, “This is excellent news for the people of Newry and Armagh, and indeed, the people of the North.
“It is great to see, that even during difficult economic times, companies like Norbrook are continuing to think creatively to expand and grow.”
“Too many of our young people are unemployed, 1 in 4 infact, and are having to leave our shores to find work elsewhere.
“Thanks to Norbrook, many of our graduates will be able to avail of high skilled jobs in science, research, finance and engineering. I hope more companies across the North can follow in the footsteps of Norbrook,” Bradley added.
