Irwin condemns those responsible for Newry security alert

Irwin has condemned those responsible for the alert

Newry & Armagh DUP Assemblyman Cllr. William Irwin MLA has condemned those responsible for a security alert on the outskirts of Newry last night and much of today. Newry Times reported late last night how police were called to the scene after a suspicious white van was spotted by members of the public parked at the side of the road on the Fathom Line/Drumalane Road.

Speaking to Newry Times, Irwin commented, “I totally condemn this alert and whilst at this stage it is unclear as to what is actually inside the vehicle, it is clear that it has been designed to cause disruption and is potentially lethal, therefore the PSNI and Army Technical Officers have to take every precaution to protect the public.”
