Second cannabis arrest in Kilkeel

Police have made a second drug related arrest in the Kilkeel area this week, as Detectives from E District’s Tactical Crime Team have charged a 27 year old male with a number of offences following the discovery of cannabis plants in a house in the Abbey Park area of the town. The news comes just hours after the news of a drug related arrested in the Cranfield area of Kilkeel. Police conducted a search of the house on Tuesday 20th December. A number of cannabis plants were recovered. The 27 year old male has been charged with possession of class B drugs, cultivating cannabis, being concerned in the production of class B drugs, dishonestly causing electricity to be diverted and preventing a meter from registering electricity supplied. He will appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on 11th January 2012. As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
