Cannabis seized after house search

Police in Kilkeel have recovered cannabis plants following the search of a house in the Cranfield area. On Sunday 4th December, police on patrol stopped a male in the Newry Street area of Warrenpoint. He was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and a subsequent search was conducted. A number of cannabis plants were recovered.

The 32 year old male was subsequently arrested for possessing class A and B drugs and cultivating cannabis. A 25 year old female was also arrested for the same offences. Both were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Neighbourhood Inspector Gary McClatchey said, “Local officers working in their local community were central to removing these drugs from circulation before they made it to our streets. We will continue to tackle the supply and use of illegal drugs with the help and support of residents in the local area.”
