Three arrested in Newry in ‘dissident republican terrorist’ investigation

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch have morning arrested three men in relation to what they described as ‘dissident republican terrorist activity’.

Speaking to Newry Times after this morning’s arrests, Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes said, “Two of the males, aged 41 and 54, were detained in the Newry area and a 44 year old male was arrested in the South Armagh area.

“All have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite for questioning,” he added.

The news comes just a month after police charged seven men with a number of ‘significant and serious’ terrorist offences.

The seven charged were part of a group of twelve men who were arrested in Ardcarne Park, Newry in November and it is believed today’s arrests are linked to the same investigation.
