The 12 men were arrested in Arcarne, Newry

In total, 12 men were arrested at a house in Ardcarne Park, Carnagat in a huge police operation. According to police, the arrests were in connection with what they described as ‘violent dissident republican activity’ and it is believed to form part of an investigation into the Continuity IRA. 11 of the men were arrested by heavily armed PSNI officers inside the house and a 12th man was arrested in a car parked outside. Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes, from Serious Crime Branch said, “Detectives from Serious Crime Branch who arrested twelve men on Monday, 10 November, in the Ardcarn Park area of Newry have been granted an additional 5 days by a court to question seven of the suspects. “The five other arrested males, aged 36, 38, 44, 45 and 48 have been released pending a report to the PPS,” he added.
