Newry Sinn Fein MLA Mickey Brady has said he is ‘shocked’ after news emerged this evening that a 12 year old girl is fighting for her life.

The collision happened on Finegan’s Road – between Jonesboro and Dromintee – at approximately 1:15pm this afternoon when the young girl was walking along the road and struck by a red van.

She was immediately rushed to Daisy Hill Hospital, where her condition is described as being ‘critical’.

Speaking to Newry Times, Brady said, “I am shocked to hear of this terrible accident and I hope that this young girl makes a full recovery. At present there are not a lot of details about the circumstances of this accident but whatever they are my thoughts and prayers are with this girl and her family at this worrying time.”
