Wells on Lindsay White: ‘Society wont tolerate such evil’

Lindsay White has been sentenced to 14 years in jail

There was widespread relief in the community yesterday after local woman Lindsay White was sentenced to 14 years in jail. White was given the tariff after being found guilty last month for her role in the brutal murder of Polish national Marek Muszynski in July 2009. Newry Times reported extensively on the trial last month which found her guilty of the gruesome crime.

Jim Wells, the DUP’s South Down MLA, spoke to Newry Times and said the violent murder sent shock-waves throughout the country. “This was a dreadful murder which shocked not only the residents of Newry but also all of Northern Ireland. A vulnerable man was set upon and killed in a horribly cruel way by White.”

Wells added, “I believe that the sentence clearly reflects the horrific nature of the attack and sends out a clear message that society will not tolerate such evil acts.”
