2024 Open Call for Energy Research Launched | Newry News
The Department for the Economy has launched an open call for energy research, with £400K of funding available.
The purpose of this open call is to stimulate innovative and novel research ideas that will feed into key research themes and objectives under the Department’s new research programme* and directly contribute to the evidence base in support of policymaking associated with the Energy Strategy.
This open call will produce high-quality research underpinning the economic vision for an economy with good jobs, regional balance, high productivity, and with a reduction in carbon emissions.
Economy Minister Conor Murphy says, “The Energy Strategy set out an ambitious and evidence-driven pathway to reduce carbon emissions from energy, putting people at the heart of the journey to become self-sufficient in affordable, renewable energy.
“This Open Call continues to support the commitments of the strategy to produce a comprehensive energy evidence programme to inform policy decisions.”
The Department welcomes energy-related research proposals from academics or firms that wish to undertake a research project related to one or more of the key research themes and the principles identified in the Energy Strategy.
Further information on the energy open call, including themes, proposal guidance and key dates, can be found on the Department’s website.
If you wish to submit an energy-related research proposal for the Department to consider, please email it to energyintelligence@economy-ni.gov.uk.
The deadline for submissions is 3 p.m. on 30 August 2024.
