Seamus Mallon – ‘A Shared Home Place’ event to take place in Newry | Newry News
The John and Pat Hume Foundation is organising the third event in honour of Seamus Mallon on the theme of ‘A Shared Home Place’, which will be held at 7.00 pm on Friday, 22 September 2023, in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry.
Tim Attwood, Hume Foundation Secretary, says, “Seamus Mallon was committed to the genuine reconciliation of conflicting traditions using only peaceful means.
“It is vitally important that we reflect on the generous words in his book ‘A Shared Home Place’ and engage in a positive, inclusive and challenging conversation about people, peace and politics on the island over the next 25 years.”

Ian Marshall, former member of the Seanad
Sharon Haughey, former Lord Mayor of Armagh City & District
Orla Mallon, Seamus Mallon’s daughter
Tim O’Connor, former Irish diplomat

Justin McNulty MLA
Senator Niall Blaney
Mike Nesbitt MLA
Fergus O’Dowd TD
The discussion will be chaired by Sean O’Rourke, Irish journalist and broadcaster.
