‘Cuts to local youth services in Newry are deeply concerning’ – Newry MLA Liz Kimmins | News in Newry
Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has said that plans by the EA to cut budgets of local youth services are a real concern.
The Newry and Armagh MLA says, “Here in Newry, I have already met some local service providers to listen to their concerns around cuts to local EA youth services.
“We have now seen another local Youth Service provider, The Bosco Youth Centre, publicly appealing for help in managing this wave of cuts.
“I will be meeting with the Bosco club to listen to their concerns and to offer any assistance that we can.
“Sinn Féin has made it clear to the Education Authority that these cuts are totally unacceptable.
“These cuts come hot on the heels of Tory cuts announced following the DUP’s boycott of our Assembly and Executive.
“People are struggling with the cost of living, our health service is under huge pressure, and now youth and education services are being targeted for cuts.
“The DUP should get back to work around the Executive table with the other parties to get locally elected ministers in place and support the public against unbridled Tory cuts.”
