£461k road resurfacing for main B30 road between Lislea and Mullaghbawn | Newry News Today
Sinn Féin councillor Oonagh Magennis has welcomed an investment of over £461,000 for a substantial resurfacing scheme of the main Newry Road.
The Slieve Gullion councillor says, “After extensive lobbying on behalf of the road users and local residents, I’m glad to see that these works are now scheduled to begin.
“This investment will see a huge improvement in the surface of this busy main route into South Armagh.
“The works will see the road resurfaced and drainage upgraded from the Longfield road junction all the way to the Mullaghbawn road junction.
“I am hopeful that other parts of the main road at Lislea will also be repaired in 2023.”
The works began on Monday 21 November and are expected to last until 23 December.
The road will be closed between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm and diversions will be in place during these hours.
Local and emergency access will be accommodated throughout the works.
“I hope that these works will go some way to improving road safety for the residents of Lislea and all that use this road,” the local Councillor adds.
