Lotus has invested £50 million into the 180 eco-friendly houses and 24 apartments, located on the Newry Road, on the outskirts of Banbridge.

All of the new build homes in Edenbrook are fitted with 2KW Solar PV Panels from Start Solar, producing electricity from sunlight, even on cloudy days.

Solar power is a green, renewable source of energy and does not release any carbon dioxide into the environment, helping residents to reduce their carbon footprint.

Not only does solar power help the environment, but it also has financial gains for residents, helping them to save up to £600 a year on electricity costs.

Purchasers of Edenbrook homes also have the option to install an electric car charging port in their driveway or futureproof their homes with the necessary wiring in case they need it in a few years.

Over half of purchasers so far have opted for the latter due to recent news that all new car sales will need to be electric by 2030 to reach climate targets.

Paul O’Rourke, Managing Director at Lotus Homes, says, “At a time when climate change and the cost-of-living crisis are at the forefront of our minds, we wanted to create a housing solution which would not only help the environment but also help residents to save some money.

“Consumers are now looking for sustainable choices more than ever to ensure they are doing the most they can for the environment, and we want to help make these decisions easy.

“Edenbrook is a first for Lotus Homes in developing green homes, but certainly won’t be the last.

“We are currently putting similar environmental strategies into our other developments, including upcoming developments in Comber and Antrim. We hope this is the start of a sustainable future at Lotus Homes.”

All of the houses and apartments have an EPC rating of B, with some of the semi-detached houses just 1 mark away from an A rating.

This means they are very energy efficient, once again helping residents to save money on bills.

Paul Carr, Director of Carr Brothers, a Newry-based construction firm, says, “Having worked alongside Lotus Homes for the past 9 years, it is great to see this positive advancement in their sustainability strategies.

“We are now seeing sustainable homes becoming more popular, with many purchasers looking for solar panels and energy efficient homes.

Paul adds, “We are thrilled to have been able to work with Lotus on Edenbrook and on many more eco-friendly houses to come.”

The new show home at Edenbrook opened its doors on Sunday to a flourish of visitors excited to see inside.

The show home will be open on Sundays from 2 pm – 4 pm over the coming few weeks.

Private one-to-one viewing appointments are also available to book daily.
