Man, 29, charged by police after Newry aggravated burglary | News in Newry

A 29-year-old man arrested recently on suspicion of aggravated burglary has been charged with a number of offences.

The offences include aggravated burglary, criminal damage and resisting police.

The charges relate to an aggravated burglary in the Toragh Park area of Newry on Friday 28 October.

Speaking last week, Sergeant Reynolds explains, “At approximately 12.20 am we received a report that three men had entered the property armed with a knife, a metal pole and hedge cutters.

“They assaulted the occupants before ransacking the house.

“Officers attended the scene and arrested one man on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or to anyone who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage that could assist with our enquiries, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 25 of 28/10/22.”

The 29-year-old man appeared before Newry Magistrates Court on Saturday 29 October.

As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
