Playr-Fit’s Newry Business Football Tournament a Huge Success | Newry News
Newry business Playr-Fit, who design customised team wear and sportswear, recently hosted a football tournament for local businesses as part of men’s health week to promote positive mental well-being and physical health.
The massively successful tournament, supported by Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade took place on Friday 17 June 2022 at Newry City FC’s 3G Pitches with Deli Lites supplying the hospitality for all participants.
Norbrook Laboratories were the overall winners.
On the day, twenty teams from across the business sector within the greater Newry, Mourne & Down and wider area gathered for a full afternoon of sport which also raised the vital awareness and funds for local suicide prevention and mental wellbeing charity, PIPS Hope and Support.
On completion of their first exciting and successful event, Playr-Fit’s managing director, Kieran Quinn and Marketing Executive, Darren McPolin presented the tremendous proceeds of £2,747.00 to PIPS Hope and Support’s fundraising coordinator, Padraig Harte.
Speaking at the presentation, managing director, Kieran Quinn thanked the many local businesses for their support in making the event the success it was and for raising a wonderful amount for a charity he is passionate about.
He says, “When the team and I decided to host the first of what we hope are many business 5’s football tournaments we unanimously selected PIPS Hope and Support as our chosen charity .
“We are delighted that we were able to present them with a massive donation that will assist with the vital services and support they provide to our local community.”
Kieran continues, “The event was an incredible afternoon in support of men’s mental health week.
“We were delighted to see such a great uptake of businesses which no doubt could have had more participating.
“The support from Newry Chamber, Deli Lites and Thompson Visuals has been fantastic and ensured the day had everything.
“On behalf of everyone at Playr-Fit, a huge thank you to all who took part and for the support.
“We look forward to hosting this event again in the future.”
PIPS Hope and Support’s, fundraising coordinator, Padraig Harte thanked Kieran and his team at Playr-Fit and local businesses for the support.
Padraig says, “On behalf of PIPS Hope and Support, a massive thank you to Kieran, Darren, and the team at Playr-Fit for selecting our charity as their recipient from the proceeds raised.
“The event they delivered was incredible.
“And it was fantastic to see over twenty-four businesses taking part for men’s health week and in support of our charity.
“We thank each one of the businesses who took part, Newry Chamber for their support to Playr-Fit, Deli Lites for their hospitality and continued support and Thompson Visuals for the excellent visuals of the event.”
Padraig adds, “The generosity received will assist PIPS H&S in making a difference to the lives of families and individuals who are mentally or emotionally distressed and in need of meaningful support, helping to save lives from suicide and allowing us to develop our charity further based on demand and need.”
