Newry and Mourne businesses urged to get invovled in Corporate Games | Newry Times
Mary Peters Trust has teamed up with retired Paralympian Michael McKillop to call on businesses across County Down to get involved in its inaugural Hughes Insurance Corporate Games.
The exciting team-building event takes place on 24 June at the Mary Peters Track.
Open to companies across Northern Ireland, teams of eight will have the opportunity to take part in a vibrant mix of activities, competitive sporting events such as the 100m run, Long Jump, Shot Put and 800m Relay race, and informal classic sports day events such as the egg and spoon, ensuring it is a day that all can enjoy.
PWC, Ulster University, Alchemy Technologies and Smith & Williamson are amongst the firms that have already signed up to take part.
Gold medallist Michael McKillop will be on hand to judge and says, “I’m delighted to be involved in the Mary Peters Trust Corporate Games.
“Sport is a powerful mechanic which can be used to strengthen bonds and grow camaraderie amongst teams, all very important when it comes to teamwork.
“If I had to offer any advice to the entrants on the day it would be to work together, not to underestimate the power of teamwork and most importantly, to enjoy the experience.
“The organisation is very important to me and the support I received throughout my career has been incredible.”
Mary Peters Trust is the only organisation in Northern Ireland to support young athletes from all recognised sports and the Corporate Games will help fund its activities across 2022.
Lady Mary Peters says, “We are really excited to introduce this new platform to businesses across Northern Ireland and have the support of Hughes Insurance to do so.
“I extend my hearty thanks for their continued investment in our work.
