The Certification Officer for Northern Ireland ensures that the affairs of trade unions and employers’ associations are conducted in keeping with legislation.

The Certification Officer for Northern Ireland’s role is quasi-judicial and in many instances provides an alternative to the High Court for trade union members seeking legal remedies.

The Department wishes to appeal to people of all ages from a wide range of backgrounds and experience and would particularly welcome applications from people with a disability, those from ethnic minorities and young people.

The Department is operating a Guaranteed Interview Scheme in this competition for applicants with a disability.

The rate of remuneration for the Northern Ireland Certification Officer will be £22,274 per annum based on two days’ work per week.

The Northern Ireland Certification Officer can claim all reasonable travel and subsistence costs while undertaking board duties.

This is an open competition, which involves a simple application form and interview.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon (BST) on 14 April 2022.
