The South Down MP recently met with DFI Roads to discuss a number of local roads projects, including the need to enhance the existing mini-roundabout at the Chapel Hill junction in Mayobridge.

Hazzard said, “Following preliminary investigations, DFI Roads have confirmed to us that they will now be progressing with a scheme to upgrade the Newry Road / Chapel Hill junction – including a long-overdue enhancement of the existing mini-roundabout.

“It is hoped that these works will include the installation of new roadside railings, a pedestrian crossing, and a much more prominent mini-roundabout to help the merging traffic flows.

“These works should greatly enhance the Newry Road gateway to the village, improving road safety for both pedestrians and drivers alike.”
