20mph zones ‘need further rolled out in Newry and Armagh’ – Newry MLA | Newry Times
Liz Kimmins is calling for more schools in the Newry and Armagh area to be able to have 20mph zones in their surrounding area.
The Newry and Armagh MLA stated, “Across the whole of Newry and Armagh, only a small number of schools were included in the first roll-out of the 20mph zone scheme last year.
“Many communities were disappointed that they missed out.
“And this needs to be rectified in a future rollout.
“We need to improve road safety across the board, especially those roads close to schools, to increase safety for children and young people and to ensure that students can safely get to school.
“I have repeatedly called on the Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon to ensure that more schools from my constituency are included in the next roll-out of this important road safety scheme.
“Road safety is such a serious issue that I am deeply passionate about.
“I will continue to work towards making our roads safer in the Newry and Armagh area,” she added.
