Murphy Welcomes Plans to Use Local Pharmacies in Vaccine Rollout | Newry Times
Sinn Fein MLA Conor Murphy has welcomed the plans to use local pharmacies to assist in the delivery of Covid 19 vaccines.
The Newry and Armagh MLA said, “The vaccination programme across the North has been a great success.
“But for people in South Armagh the use of Craigavon as our vaccine centre creates access difficulties, particularly for those who rely on public transport.
“I have raised this issue with the Health Minister at a number of Executive meetings.
“I have been assured that the plans to involve local pharmacies in vaccine delivery should be in place by Easter.
“This is good news for those living in rural border areas and will complement the service being delivered by our GPs.”
He added, “The Covid-19 vaccines are a key element in our efforts to suppress the virus.
“And it is important that they are accessible to all who wish to avail of them.
“While the centre in Craigavon provides an excellent service, increased availability at the local level through our pharmacies and GPs will ensure an even greater uptake.”
