USPCA Launches Trek for Tails Challenge | Newry Times
The USPCA has launched its latest fundraising challenge ‘Trek for Tails’ which encourages the public to put on their walking shoes and clock up the miles on their favourite local walking route, in a bid to raise vital funds for the charity.
Participants are invited to select one of the challenge’s four targets to complete over a four-week period, ranging from 50 miles to a gruelling 200 miles.
The challenge is designed to suit all ages and fitness levels and is timely for those who have set New Year’s plans to improve their overall health and fitness.
Colleen Tinnelly, USPCA Development Manager, said, “We’re delighted to be able to kick off this year with a really fun challenge that will help raise vital funds for a great cause.
“As the USPCA receives no funding from the government, the support of the public has been more important than ever in helping us sustain our services to help vulnerable animals here in Northern Ireland.
“Now, even more so than before, people are getting outdoors as we have more beautiful crisp winter days to enjoy and walks are such an important outlet for people’s mental health during this time.
She added, “We have had a fantastic response to the event so far and really look forward to more people joining us as we ‘Trek for Tails!”
The event’s registration fee is £5 with a suggested sponsorship of £50.
