Newry Councillor urges vigilance after attempted break-ins

Newry City Sinn Féin Councillor Valerie Harte has urged residents in the Daragh Park area to be vigilant.

The local Councillor made her comments after reports of an attempted entry by thieves.

 

 

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Harte said, “I’ve been contacted by a resident of Daragh Park, Newry about an incident that occurred at their home at 1.30 am on Friday morning [19 June 2020].

Three males tried to gain entry to the back garden of the property from the dual carriageway on the Warrenpoint Road.

 

 

“They fled when confronted by the resident’s son.

“This was a very worrying incident for the family.

“I would urge residents to be vigilant and ensure that their properties are kept secure at all times.

 

 

The Sinn Féin representative added, “If anyone notices any type of suspicious activities they should report it to the police immediately.”
