Local MLA welcomes “crucial investment in infrastructure”
Sinn Féin Infrastructure spokesperson Cathal Boylan has welcomed the announcement of over £700m of new funding for infrastructure, regeneration, and tourism projects across the north.
The Newry and Armagh MLA told Newry Times, “The £700 million of funding announced by my party colleague and Finance minister Conor Murphy is a huge plus for the north during this difficult period.
“Among other things, this will allow for the progress of key infrastructure projects.
“In my own constituency of Newry and Armagh for example, the funding announced will advance the vital Newry Southern Relief road.
“Meanwhile in other areas, the funding will progress the expansion of the successful Glider buses in Belfast while helping transform the economic fortunes of the north-west.
“This deal gives the north a real opportunity to address regional inequality, develop our public transport network and facilitate balanced economic growth.
He added, “The importance of this package has been amplified by the need for economic recovery following COVID-19.”
