The Newry and Armagh MLA told Newry Times, “I welcome the joint initiative from the Executive and the Department of Infrastructure to provide financial support of up to £17 million for ferry operators.

“This is crucial to keep supply chains open during the COVID-19 emergency.

“It will assist with the continued delivery of essential goods such as foods and medicines.

“Ferries, trucks, airports and ports are playing a vital role in ensuring the supply lines of essential goods are secure and shops are adequately stocked for the public.

“This is an important recognition of the significant work being done to continue to keep supply chains open,” he added.
