£45m for mental health, deprivation and broadband confirmed

Finance Minister Conor Murphy has confirmed £45million of funding for mental health, deprivation and broadband in 2020-21.

Making the announcement, Minister Murphy said, “I have been continually pressing Treasury over recent months for clarity on Confidence and Supply funding.

“I am pleased Treasury has now ended this uncertainty and delighted that this year’s allocation has been provided.

“£45million will be made available in this financial year for mental health, deprivation and broadband.

“Given the importance of these areas the Executive had made its own funding available in Budget 2020-21 to avoid any adverse impact from the uncertainty around Confidence and Supply Funding.

“This means there will now be £30million Resource and £15million Capital available for the Executive to allocate to its own priorities,” he added.

Breakdown of the £45million is as follows; £10million for mental health, £20million for severely deprived areas and £15million for broadband.
