3 arrests and 3 vehicles seized during “proactive” police operation

Officers from six Policing districts have continued to work with colleagues from An Gardaí Siochana, on a proactive operation, which was primarily aimed at disrupting and preventing criminal activity, particularly burglary, and ensuring road safety.

Officers right across Lisburn and Castlereagh; Ards and North Down; Newry, Mourne and Down; Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, Mid Ulster and Fermanagh and Omagh Districts, working in partnership with An Gardaí Siochana, conducted over 31 vehicle checkpoints, seized three vehicles and made three arrests.

Speaking to Newry Times, Inspector Kelly Gibson said, “We have been running targeted operations on an ongoing basis, and this particular operation was primarily aimed at disrupting and preventing criminal activity, particularly burglary, and ensuring road safety.

 

 

“Our overall aim is to keep people safe and bring more offenders before the courts.

“On a daily basis, police officers respond to calls for help from people who have been affected by criminal activity so we are very much aware of the effect these incidents can cause.

 

 

She added, “We are committed to bringing those responsible before the courts.”
