Newry MP’s anger after decision to pull Newry voter registration clinic

Sinn Féin’s Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has reprimanded the Electoral Office for cancelling a crucial voter registration clinic in the mouth of a general election.

Speaking to Newry Times, Mickey Brady said, “The Electoral Office has cancelled a voter registration clinic for the people of Newry & Armagh, having publicised and advertised the critical event for some time.

“The people of Newry and Armagh are all too aware of a history in this area of gerrymandering and discrimination.

 

 

“That the Electoral Office has taken this decision in the mouth of an election is unfair and completely unacceptable.

 

 

He added, “I have today contacted senior Electoral Office officials to ensure that this decision is reversed.”
