Two arrests after police car rammed in Newry

Two men have been arrested after a Police vehicle was rammed in the Catherine Street area of Newry.

The incident happened on Thursday, 3 October, shortly before 3.52pm.

Speaking to Newry Times, Chief Inspector Joe McMinn said, “A 19-year-old male was arrested for dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving whilst unfit, possession of a Class B drug, and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

 

 

“A second male, aged 36, was arrested on suspicion of possession and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

“Both have been released on bail pending further enquiries.”

 

 

Two young children were seen making off from the vehicle.

Police enquiries are continuing.

 

 

Chief Inspector Joe McMinn added, “If anyone can help with Police enquiries they are asked to call the 101 number quoting 1185 of 3.10.19.

“Alternatively information can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
