The Consumer Council supports Translink’s Bus and Train Week

The Consumer Council is encouraging consumers to try public transport during Bus and Train Week, 3 – 9 June 2019.

Richard Williams, Head of Transport Policy at The Consumer Council said, “When parking and other costs are factored in, public transport can be cheaper than travelling by car.

“Our advice is give it a go during Translink’s Bus and Train Week 2019; take advantage of the special discounted fares and other partnership offers during the week.

“You might find that you also really enjoy the opportunity to read or catch up with work, or just to relax instead of worrying about traffic.

“If it works for you consider using public transport more regularly.”

Richard added, “Our staff will also be taking part in the Active Travel Challenge, for a healthier and more environmentally-friendly commute.

“Throughout June, staff will leave the car at home and walk, cycle or take public transport for some of their work journeys.”
