Praise for Newry’s Black Santa
Newry and Armagh MP has praised the great effort of John Dalzell and his support team after it was revealed that John, who the Sinn Féin MP describes as Newry’s “Black Santa” had raised over £78,000 in his annual sit out in the run-up to Christmas.
Micky said that John’s annual Sit Out campaign “has become part and parcel” of Christmas celebrations in the local area.
“John is a man that we all have great respect for. His Christmas sit out has become part and parcel of our Christmas celebrations.
“The monies collected by him and his team ensure the continued delivery by the Southern Area Hospice of its services of care and support for patients and their loved ones.
“I am proud to call him a friend and I cannot praise John, his family and all those involved with the annual sit out enough.
The local MP added, “John is our own “Black Santa”. He and his dedicated Sit-Out team are an incredible example of the spirit of giving and what generosity from people, over £78,000 raised for the Southern Area Hospice.”
