Anger after fly-tipping near Hilltown

Sinn Féin HIlltown spokesperson Gerry O’Hare has condemned incidents of fly-tipping of tyres in multiple locations near Hilltown.

Speaking to Newry Times, O’Hare said, “We have seen fly-tipping of tyres in multiple locations including the Goward Road, Carmen Road and also near Spelga Dam.

“These actions are absolutely disgraceful by those individuals who have carried out these incidents.

“This behaviour not only ruins our local environment but also leaves local landowners the serious question of who is left to clean up this mess,” he continued.

“I will be contacting local agencies such as the Department for Infrastructure and the council in order to see this problem resolved as soon as possible.

“I feel it is important to stress the importance of people reporting any suspicious behaviour they seen relating to these incidents.

He added, “Until the individuals who committed this are caught the more this type of crime will take place.”
