Appeal for information after Mercedes theft

Local police are investigating the report of a vehicle theft in Newtownhamilton and are appealing for witnesses and information.

Speaking to Newry Times, Constable Young said, “We received a report at 2 pm on Friday, 24 August that a black Mercedes parked along the road in the Fords Cross area, within the vicinity of Dundalk Road, had been stolen sometime between 9 am and 12:30 pm that day.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area between these times and noticed any suspicious activity to contact us.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have captured dash cam footage of a car matching the description of the vehicle stolen being driven away to get in touch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 700 of 24/08/18.

Constable Young added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
