£350,000 Warrenpoint road investment welcomed

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis along with local Warrenpoint Councillor Mickey Ruane have both welcomed a large £350,000 investment into major resurfacing and repair works along the Upper Dromore Road, Warrenpoint.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ennis said, ‘This is a much-welcomed announcement by the Department for Infrastructure.

“The Upper Dromore Road along with many roads in the area are clearly in a very bad and deteriorating state and are of great concern to all local residents.

“Both myself and my party colleague Cllr Mickey Ruana have for some time now raised this issue time and time again with DFI Road Service and I am very pleased that this has finally resulted in this massive investment into one of our worst local roads,” she added.

Councillor Ruane echoed these sentiments. “This investment was greatly needed for this particular road. In recent months we have seen our public roads in a seriously shocking and ultimately dangerous condition.

“This very large investment into one of the worst roads is after a very tireless campaign by Sinéad Ennis and myself, as well as the local community.

He added, “We must see further work such as this in the future to make sure our local infrastructure does not fall into a state of disrepair.”
