Men armed with machetes attack 17-year-old in Newry

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a report of an aggravated burglary at a house on Talbot Street in Newry during the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 5 June.

It was reported that shortly after 2.15am a number of men armed with machetes forced their way into a property and attacked the male occupant.

 

 

The 17-year-old male was taken to hospital for treatment for an injury to his nose and large cuts to his arm and leg as a result of the incident.

 

 

Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Chief Inspector Will Tate appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 236 05/06/18.

He added, “Or, alternatively information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
