Serious assault on vulnerable man in Bessbrook

Police are appealing for information following a serious assault on a man in the Bessbrook area on Monday, 28 May.

At approximately 10:15 pm the man was making his way home and was attacked close to the Cloughreagh Community Centre.



Police said he was attacked by two males who were driving a Dark Coloured VW Jetta.

The man lost a tooth and required medical attention as a result of the attack.



Speaking to Newry Times, Constable Finucane said, “This was an attack on a vulnerable adult and we would like the public’s assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference 1605 28/05/18.



He added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
