Community, What's On

Cuan Mhuire, Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of support and rehabilitation treatment for individuals suffering from addiction and other related issues, is holding its annual fundraising Coffee Morning on Saturday 28 April 28 at its Dublin Road Centre from 10 am to 2 pm.

Sr Consilio Fitzgerald, founder of Cuan Mhuire, has extended an invitation to all to come along and enjoy a cuppa, a cake and a bit of craic.

Speaking about the generosity and support of the local communities, Sr Consilio said, “We couldn’t continue our work without the wonderful generosity of families, communities and individuals.

“Our Newry Charity Shop based in Hill Street has gone from strength to strength. This would not be possible without the generous donations from people and the daily influx of customers to our Shop. We really appreciate the support we are receiving from all.

She added, “On behalf of the Cuan Mhuire family I extend an invitation to all to feel free and call into our Coffee Morning at our Newry Centre on the Old Dublin Road on Saturday between 10am and 2pm.”

Newry, Mourne and Down Council Chairperson Roisin Mulgrew, who attended the launch of the Coffee Morning Fundraiser which took place in the Cuan Mhuire Charity Shop, stated, “Cuan Mhuire since its formation in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, has treated over 100,000 people.

“Now more than ever the life-saving and changing services on offer from Cuan Mhuire are desperately needed and I wish Sr Consilio and the Cuan Mhuire family well in their continued endeavours to help those in need.”
