Upper Dromore Road ‘a top priority for Roads Service’
Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has welcomed news that the Upper Dromore Road has been named as one of the top priorities for Roads Service and money is expected to be allocated in the coming weeks to begin a two-phase resurfacing project.
Speaking to Newry Times, the South Down MLA said, “It is welcome news that the Upper Dromore Road has been named as one of the top priorities for Roads Service and that they are confident that money will be allocated to begin a two-phase resurfacing project early in the financial year.
“I, alongside my party colleague Councillor Mickey Ruane, held a site meeting with the Senior Section Engineer from the Department of Infrastructure Roads Service on the Upper Dromore Road, Warrenpoint. We also inspected Great George’s St, Queen St and Seaview.
“I have also written to the Department for Infrastructure Permanent Secretary to request that money secured by the department in the December monitoring rounds be used to address the crumbling road conditions across South Down.
“A Sinn Féin delegation will also meet with the Southern Divisional Roads Manager Simon Richardson to discuss these issues,” she added.
