Exciting opportunity for Newry graduates to kick start a career in finance

Graduates are being offered the opportunity to join Deloitte and work on some of the firms largest assignments across the UK and internationally.

With backing from the Department for the Economy, the new Deloitte Human Capital Financial Controller Academy will offer 20 graduates the opportunity to join their Belfast office and become part of the teams developing projects for the world’s FTSE 100 companies.

The seven week training programme, delivered by Belfast Met, will cover topics such as financial modelling, commercial and risk management and project management.

All successful participants, on completion of the academy, will be interviewed for a position with the company and will be supported to study for the Chartered Global Management Accountant qualification.

Head of Employer Skills at the Department for the Economy, Justin Kerr said, “Skills programmes like this are vital to providing graduates with the opportunity to develop their skills in the workplace and develop their professional skills.

“From banking and accounting, to real estate and insurance, job opportunities in the finance sector are incredibly varied, catering to lots of different interests and skill sets.

“The Assured Skills Programme demonstrates how government, academia and business can work effectively together to provide companies with the talent they require and provide graduates with high quality jobs all of which has a positive impact on the local economy.”

Launching the new academy, Jackie Henry, Office Senior Partner at Deloitte said, “Our fast growing Project Controller Team is a specialist team that sits within Deloitte’s Consulting business.

He added, “This new academy we are launching in conjunction with the Department for the Economy, is an exciting opportunity for graduates to gain exposure to senior stakeholders very early in their career, deliver projects for FTSE 100 companies while working on multiple large and complex engagements with our clients both within the UK and internationally.”

Previous experience is not required but applicants must possess a 2:2 degree in any discipline.

Graduates will be paid £150 a week while training.
