Sinn Féin delegation to meet CCMS to discuss proposals

South Down MLA Sinéad Ennis along with party colleagues will meet with senior figures from the CCMS in the coming weeks.

The meeting was called amid concerns from parents that there is still ‘too much ambiguity’ around the logistics of the current development proposals.

Speaking ahead of the meeting Sinéad Ennis said, “I am aware that the Development Proposals are currently out for public consultation and that other Post Primary Schools in the locality have already submitted their responses.

“We have been engaging with the Schools and parents and it its clear there are still questions that remain unanswered.

“It is important to state that we do not dispute the merit of the proposed merger between the two schools, but issues around the future of St Columban’s Learning support centre, the proposed bi-literal entry and the impact this would have on the nearest all ability non-selective schools still have not been properly addressed,” she added.
