Exciting FREE event at Slieve Gullion
Slieve Gullion Courtyard Development is staging a unique event at Slieve Gullion Courtyard on Saturday 23rd September celebrating European connections with the region.
The event, Failte Europe, will celebrate the contribution our European neighbours make to our local communities and highlight their musical, cultural heritage.
The free event takes place on Saturday 23rd September from 11-5pm and offers a varied programme including Polish, Bulgarian and Irish Dance, the community Ukulele orchestra, Russian Choir.
It also includes a full programme for children with face painting, straw craft, European Flower Craft Workshop, drumming workshop and Giant Hoola Hoop Bubbles and guided tours of the Giant’s Liar.
There will also be a European Food Market featuring sweet and savoury treats from Bulgaria, Poland and Spain among others.
Failte Europe Day represents a significant investment by Slieve Gullion Courtyard Development Ltd and is supported by Newry Mourne Down District Council, District Electoral Area and Ring of Gullion.
Speaking to Newry Times, Chair of the Slieve Gullion Partnership Mary Martin said, “This is a unique event and we are thrilled to host it in the wonderful setting of the historic Slieve Gullion Courtyard.
“We look forward to welcoming European communities, local people and families from across Newry, Mourne & Gullion region to enjoy the colourful multi-cultural programme, music and activities all day as part of our Failte Europe Celebrations,” she added.
Additional parking will be offered on the day – follow the road signage and steward guidance.
