50 motorists caught speeding during Newry police operation

Tactical Support Group (TSG) recently worked in partnership with colleagues in the Road Safety Camera Vans in the Newry and South Down areas.

TSG officers utilised the Laser Speed testing device.

The officers performed speed tests on roads where complaints and concerns had previously been raised by members of the community.

Over 50 motorists were detected in excess of the prescribed speed limits.

Those caught speeding were dealt with by issue of fixed Penalty Notices or a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

One motorist had their vehicle seized as they had no insurance and other drivers were issued Fixed Penalty Notices for Using a handheld mobile device and No Vehicle Test Certificate.
