Community urged to rally against shooting attack

Sinn Féin Councillor Darren McNally and Cathal Boylan MLA have condemned the intimidation of employees at a business residence in Keady by armed gunmen on Friday evening.

Just after 5pm on Friday, two men fired shots at staff in a business premises, and sped off in a white Hyundai which was later found burned out on the Dundrum Road in Tassagh.

“This criminal vigilante behaviour has no place in our society,” the duo told Newry Times.

“Residents in Keady will not tolerate violent intimidation and the appalling actions of this armed gang”, said Boylan.

Speaking following the incident, Cllr McNally urged the local community to come forward with any information that may bring the perpetrators to justice.

“I urge anyone with information regarding this assault to contact the local authorities and police to ensure that we put an end to criminality of this kind in our society.”
