Newry engineering students enjoy German placements
Southern Regional College Level 3 Engineering students from Newry and Portadown recently visited an Engineering technical college in Weiden Germany.
While on this visit they participated in placements in German companies Vitron, Baumann and ISA.
They also took part in PLC control and automation classes in a technical college.
The trip was based around Industry 4.0 and its impact on German industry.

Funding for this project was secured through the European Communities, Erasmus+ programme by Southern Regional College’s External Funding & International Affairs Team.
The College has secured over €2.2m from EU funded programmes resulting in over 1000 staff and students availing of the opportunity to undertake work placements and study visits in the EU including Malta, Italy, Spain, Finland, Germany and Sweden.
Erasmus+ offer apprentices and students the chance to experience a vocational training placement in another country. Learners can spend time in a work place to gain real life experience in an industry. Staff also benefit from the funding opportunities to support their professional development or by job shadowing.
