Stabbing in Newry: Police arrest 48 year old man
Detectives have arrested a man following an incident at a house in the Cois Locha area of Newry on Tuesday 14th March.
Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Chief Inspector James Mullen said, “Shortly after 4:00pm police received reports a 25 year old man had been assaulted.

“The man is being treated in hospital for stab injuries,” he said.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

He continued, “As a result of this a 48 year old male is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this assault or may have seen anything suspicious in the area to contact Detectives at Newry on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 762 14/03/17.
“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111,” Detective Chief Inspector Mullen added.
