Lifetime Achievement Award for Southern Trust Doctor
Dr Rosemary Black, an Associate Specialist in Dermatology for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards.
Now in its 18th year, the annual awards event organised by MEDCOM is dedicated to celebrating those whose exceptional expertise and contribution to their profession have transformed the provision of healthcare for the better.
Dr Black, who just retired in January, initially started her career as a GP, joining Craigavon Area Hospital’s Dermatology Team in 1988.
Congratulating Dr Black on her award, Dr Richard Wright, Medical Director for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust said, “We are absolutely delighted that Rosemary has received this very much deserved recognition for a career spent dedicated to her patients and supporting her colleagues.

“Dr Black has always been committed to developing services to help improve the quality of care and outcomes for her patients, for example, the development of the Phototherapy Service, introduction of Photodynamic Treatment and the provision of Teledermatology.
“In addition for her genuine passion for Dermatology, Rosemary has been a real advocate for her profession as a member of the British Association of Dermatology and the Royal College of Physicians.
“Dr Black has been particularly active in supporting the role of Specialty and Associate Specialist doctors both locally and nationally, and within the Southern Trust has played a very central medical leadership role for this group of clinicians.
He added, “On behalf of all of Dr Black’s colleagues and friends throughout the entire organisation I would like to congratulate her on this fantastic achievement and wish her the very best for her retirement.”
