Street lighting issues in South Armagh highlighted

street-lightSlieve Gullion Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin is to meet with Street Lighting Officials from Transport NI to discuss concerns in relation to pedestrian use of the Bog Road at Forkhill.

“This road is a busy one for both pedestrians and motorists with many young people in particular walking it to get to the Peadar O’Doirnin GAC facility,” Larkin explained.

Jan End 2017“Lack of street lighting is an ongoing concern and I have had lengthy contact with Street Lighting Officials about the issue. I now hope to meet with Transport NI Officers on site to discuss the possibility of installing appropriate lighting along the stretch of road.”


 

He urged pedestrians and motorists to be alert to the dangers. “Hopefully we will resolve the concerns of many about the lack of Street Lighting along this stretch of rural road.

“I would urge all pedestrians and motorists to take care whilst travelling along this stretch of road.”
