Woman dies in South Armagh house fire

psni54Police have confirmed that a woman, aged in her 90’s, has died following a fire at a house in Bay View in Jonesborough last night, Sunday 22nd January. Police received a report of a fire at a house shortly after 7.30pm. Emergency Services attended but unfortunately the woman was found deceased at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious, has now commenced.
  Newry & Armagh Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon described it as a ‘deeply tragic event’. “My thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the deceased victim, who was very well known and respected in the local area.”

Jan End 2017Her colleague, local Councillor Mickey Larkin, said, “The victim was a respected and popular member of the Jonesborough community. The whole community is shocked by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.”
