Traffic calming measures for Hilltown welcomed

Sinn Féin MLA Caitríona Ruane has welcomed traffic calming measures in line for Hilltown after it was confirmed by the Department of Infrastructure.

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “We have been fighting for traffic calming through Hilltown for a long time.

“I am delighted that my colleague Chris Hazzard has confirmed that 30 mph roundels and red speed patches these are due to be implemented.

“Hilltown Sinn Féin activists Gerry O’Hare and Vincent McDonald have been working tirelessly with me to ensure these are implemented so we greatly welcome that this is finally taking place.”

She added, “A pedestrian crossing is also under consideration by the Department of Infrastructure and we hope this is put in place as soon as possible.”
