Kennedy welcomes Justice Minister to Newry and Armagh
The Ulster Unionist MLA for Newry & Armagh, Danny Kennedy MLA, welcomed the Minister for Justice Claire Sugden MLA to his constituency office in Markethill to meet with representatives from Victim’s families in the area.
The meeting was requested by Kennedy and he said he was delighted that the Justice Minister had come to hear at first hand the concerns and frustrations of relatives from Kingsmills and other atrocities.
Speaking afterwards, Kennedy said the relatives and representatives from FAIR had expressed to Claire Sugden their very serious concerns about the delays in the investigations into the Kingsmills massacre and other atrocities.

They also highlighted the possible forthcoming suspension of the fresh Coroner’s Inquest into Kingsmills and asked the Minister to do whatever she could to progress the current process.
Delays in the processing of information and intelligence by the authorities in the Irish Republic was also discussed with Minister Sugden and Kennedy pressed for these issues to be raised directly with the Irish Justice Minister, Frances Fitzgerald TD.

Kennedy said he was pleased that the Minister had accepted his invitation to meet with the relatives and said he hoped that “they could count on her support in their request for maximum justice”.
